Consulting, development and management for WordPress and WooCommerce
I'm Diego Vagnoli. I help businesses, schools and independent professionals bring
their work online and make it simpler, more functional and more digital, connecting
it to the tools they already use, from services like Systeme.io, Bokun or Calendly to
niche management systems.
I work with clients in Italy and abroad, and follow multilingual projects across
English-, Spanish- and Japanese-speaking markets, in coordination with local teams.
- 20+ years of web development
- IT · EU · Japan clients and markets
- Ongoing reference not one-off projects
I don't sell off-the-shelf websites. I take responsibility that they work, and that they keep working over time.
Diego Vagnoli, technical referenceWhat I do
- Consulting. From the early stage that turns vague needs and problems into clear directions and tailored solutions, to support in managing relationships with external vendors: management systems, hosting, email services, payment gateways.
- Custom development. WordPress and WooCommerce sites built on real needs, not templates; and work on existing projects to optimise, extend or rethink them.
- Integrations. Management systems, CRMs, booking engines, payment systems: I connect the site to the tools the business already uses.
- Functional design. Content structure, hierarchy and navigation: the clearest possible presentation in service of the site's purpose.
- SEO & GEO. From the design stage I structure the site and its content for search engines and generative (AI) engines, and I guide clients on the best practices to grow visibility and ranking over time.
- Performance, security, tracking. Speed, protection and measurement (GA4, Tag Manager, Meta and Google Ads, server-side tagging) to decide on data.
- Ongoing management. Maintenance, evolution and support over time, often as a stable technical reference.
Design
Design, the way I see it, is part of the technical work, not a final coat of paint. It's about bringing order: taking content that may be complex, messy or incomplete, building a clear hierarchy and a structure that guides reading and leads the visitor where they need to go.
That doesn't mean giving up on craft: a clean, well-made site communicates credibility before the words do. But aesthetics serve the purpose, they're not an exercise in style: typography, spacing, colour and rhythm all work to make the site understandable, credible and easy to use.
The aim, ultimately, is concrete: that whoever arrives understands what the client offers and takes the next step, whether a message, an enquiry or a purchase. What goes front and centre is the value of that offer, and that's where everything concentrates: making it stand out and easy to grasp. The best design is the kind you don't notice, because it works: when the presentation is right, the content reads itself and the job is done.
How I work
I work directly and continuously. I start from the initial idea and accompany the client through launch and beyond, following the technical management over time. I often take on existing sites too: I like fixing what's there, improving stability, security and performance, and keeping everything in order behind the scenes.
I don't just execute: I guide technical and strategic choices with continuity. For many clients I'm the stable technical reference to turn to directly, even as the project evolves or new needs arise. With clients who are interested and enterprising, the collaboration becomes growth too: I improve their processes, build internal skills and leave clear documentation and practical guidance, so teams often become self-sufficient and dynamic. A more solid project and a longer-lasting relationship.
Selected projects
Almost all on WordPress and Elementor, pushed well beyond the template: design and funnels at this level on a standard, maintainable stack that the client can manage independently.
Featured · 5 sectors
-
Scientific research · B2Bprobiomics.it
Bilingual corporate site for a University of Tor Vergata spin-off working in multi-omics research. The real challenge was editorial before technical: extracting content from specialists and giving clear shape to a demanding subject (Olink proteomics, Nanopore sequencing, bioinformatics) in a credible, navigable site. Recent work, with a polished B2B identity and an orderly service taxonomy.
-
Parenting · infant sleeppiccologhiro.it
I turned a limited WordPress.com blog into a complete, independent platform the client fully manages. It's a multi-format ecosystem (age-segmented sleep consultations, courses, e-books and a free course that acts as a lead magnet toward paid consultations), with an editorial blog, newsletter and integrated payments. Design and full content restructuring carried out in close collaboration, with courses delivered via Systeme.io.
-
Fitness · pre & postnatalfitformamma.it
An online fitness school for pregnancy and the postpartum. I designed a complete, conversion-oriented journey: from the home to the two dedicated tracks, through to the programme landing pages and the free intro call. All with a structured coaching system (bespoke plans, live sessions, WhatsApp support), an SEO-focused editorial blog and a magazine-grade visual identity.
-
Beauty · hair salonfabio-alfano.com
A hair salon in Tokyo for an international clientele. Fashion-editorial direction: dark hero, portraiture, a refined wordmark and a trilingual site (IT/EN/JP). I also handled the rebranding, aligning image and positioning with the target audience.
-
Non-profit · campaigncampaign.vsf-international.org
A campaign system for Vétérinaires Sans Frontières International, separate from the institutional site and built to launch several campaigns independently. The first, multilingual in six languages, is dedicated to pastoralism. Recent work, with its own bold, illustrated visual identity.
More projects
- Education · WooCommerce iictokyo.jp
Since 2021 I've run the whole cycle: concept, development and ongoing management. I moved the school from paper and an Access archive to a complete digital environment, a WooCommerce tailored to the needs of an atypical public institution, integrated with its external management system. I'm the project's stable technical reference and act as a go-between for its vendors: the management-software agency and the marketing/ads agencies, which I support on tracking.
- Education · WooCommerce iicosaka.jp
The twin of iictokyo.jp for the Osaka branch. I carried over the setup proven in Tokyo (custom WooCommerce, management-system integration, bespoke enrolment) adapting it to the branch's specifics, under the same ongoing management and support contract.
- Tourism · tour operator enroma.com
A tour operator integrated with Bokun and Signature. For over ten years I have supported the in-house webmaster in an ongoing consultancy that has made the team increasingly self-sufficient. A multilingual project, spread across separate domains for its international audiences.
- Institutional · education studyinitaly.jp
Institutional website built with the IIC Tokyo copywriting team: from structure and design through to launch and maintenance, handled end to end.
- Events · registrations fair.studyinitaly.jp
Platform for the Study-in-Italy Fair in Tokyo. I built the registration, payment and event-specific flows from scratch.
- Courses · WooCommerce varese-corsi.it
A WooCommerce store integrated with the external management system, with a bespoke enrolment and payment flow: friends-and-family handling, dedicated discounts and gift cards. I built advanced tracking (GA4, Meta Pixel) to support campaigns and handled the migration between two management systems without losing data. Today I look after it end to end, server included.
- Real estate · bespoke immobiliare-domus.com
Website for a real-estate agency, with listing and property management built from scratch, with no off-the-shelf “monster” plugins: everything bespoke, for full control.
- Photography · weddings reportagedimatrimoni.it
A multilingual site with versions tailored to different audiences across separate domains. The project called for a delicate balance between visual feel and functional needs: the result convinced both the photographer and his clients.
- Non-profit · institutional vsf-international.org
Website for Vétérinaires Sans Frontières International. I remain its technical reference: stepping in when needed, on a project with international reach.
